Our Story

One recipe. Four generations. More than a hundred years.

This oil was never meant to be a product. It was a household duty. In our family home in Punjab, it was made the slow way: herbs measured by hand, steeped in sesame oil, watched over for days. My great-grandparents made it. Then my grandparents. Then my parents. Nobody wrote the recipe down for a long time, because nobody needed to. You learned it by standing next to someone who loved you.

The Shared Ritual

Two 200 ml bottles together. Four months for one head of hair, or two months for two. Hair oil has always been shared in Punjabi houses; the second bottle tends to find a mother, a sister, a shelf in someone else's bathroom. Orders over ₹999 ship free, and this one does.

Golden herbal oil in close view, thick and slow, catching warm light

Why the Slow Way

Good oil cannot be rushed. The herbs decide when it is ready.

Steeping takes days, not hours. The herbs go into warm sesame oil and then they sit, watched and turned, until the oil takes on their colour and their character. There is no setting that hurries this. There never was one in our kitchen either.

There were years when a faster method would have meant an easier living, and the family still said no. We think you can feel that choice when you use it. The oil sits warm in the palm, with a little weight to it. You work it in, the evening slows down, and for a few quiet minutes nothing else is asking for you.

Made the same way since our great‑grandparents’ kitchen

The Sunday Ritual

Twenty minutes. Once or twice a week.

Warm

Pour a spoonful into your palm and rub your hands together until the oil feels warm. No stove needed. Your hands are enough.

Massage

Work it into the scalp in slow circles with your fingertips. Do not rush this part. The massage is the ritual.

Rest

Leave it in for three to four hours, or overnight if you can. An old towel on the pillow helps.

Wash

Rinse with a gentle shampoo, twice if your hair still feels heavy. Then notice the softness.

The point was never just the oil. It was the twenty minutes.

What exactly is in it?

Five herbs and one base oil, and that is the whole list. Tulsi, amla, bhringraj, brahmi and neem, steeped slowly in cold-pressed sesame oil. Nothing else. No mineral oil, no silicones, no synthetic fragrance.

How do I use it?

Warm a small amount between your palms. Massage it into the scalp with your fingertips, slow circles, no hurry. Draw what is left through to the ends. Leave it in for three to four hours, overnight if you can, then wash as usual. Once or twice a week is plenty. The steps are written out in full in the Ritual section.

Will it leave my hair greasy?

It is an oil, and it sits in for a few hours; that part is honest. Then it rinses out with one gentle shampoo, twice if your hair still feels heavy. Nothing waxy stays behind.

Is it safe for coloured or treated hair?

It is a gentle, natural oil, and oils like this are commonly used on coloured and treated hair. Still, every scalp is its own. If yours is sensitive, or you have a specific skin or hair condition, do a small patch test first and ask your doctor before making it a habit. We would always rather you check.

When will I notice something?

Honestly: softness and shine tend to show within the first few washes. The rest of the look takes patience and consistency, the same way it always has. This is a slow ritual, not a quick fix, and we do not promise miracles.

How long does a bottle last?

Used for a weekly ritual, the 100 ml bottle lasts about a month, and the 200 ml about two. If you oil more often, or the bottle gets passed around the house, it will go a little faster. Bottles tend to get shared.

What if it is not for me?

Then it costs you nothing. Every order is covered by the 30-Day Ritual Guarantee: write to us within 30 days of delivery and we refund you in full, no questions asked. The whole policy is on the shipping page.
